Madrid Conference for Peace and Against Rearmament
June 20–21, 2025 | Marcelino Camacho Auditorium, Madrid
As Europe prepares for yet another NATO summit in The Hague this 24-25 June, peace movements, social and political organizations, and cultural figures will gather in Madrid on June 20 and 21 for a powerful counter-summit to reject the escalating militarization of the continent.
Rooted in the shared manifesto “We do not resign ourselves to rearmament and war in Europe” – supported by more than 1000 organizations and 27.000 individuals – the Madrid Conference for Peace and Against Rearmament will bring together voices from across Spain and beyond to build a collective response to NATO’s demands for increased military spending and its deepening geopolitical entrenchment.
The event will address urgent global issues—including the war in Ukraine, the ongoing genocide in Gaza, the Western Sahara conflict, and growing insecurity across Latin America and Africa—and will call for a new shared security model based on peace, cooperation, and respect for international law. Participants will reject rearmament and the dominance of U.S. military interests in Europe, and emphasize disarmament—especially nuclear disarmament—as a moral and political imperative.
Through panels, dialogue, and cultural activities, the conference aims to revitalize a non-militarized vision for European and global security and to build momentum toward an alternative international order rooted in justice, human rights, and solidarity.
